Seasonal: Denim Jackets / Moto Jackets / Anorak / Trench
Blazer: I LOVE the way a blazer can be worn with jeans, black pants, skirts, dresses (and now apparently bike shorts). Adding a blazer to your wardrobe really elevates your look.
Winter Jackets & Vests: So many styles to choose from: hooded, puffy, wool, etc.
Trend: Consider these your "nice" denim. You probably spent a lot of money on them (or not!) and they are really what's trending or in style.
Great Fitting: These are your worn in jeans that you’ve had a few years, that just fit. These could have been your go-to jean at one time, but you just can’t part with them yet as they are your most worn in jean.
Black & White Denim: White denim is huge (mostly) in the summer, Black jeans have made a huge comeback these past few years, for obvious reasons, they are an easy replacement to your black workwear pant.
Dresses are the simplest and sometimes most complicated piece of clothing you can wear.
LBD “Little Black Dress” a little black dress doesn’t have to be “little” per se, but I feel this is always a sought after item in anyone’s closet. These dresses are easily worn into an office, a cocktail party, a wedding or a funeral.
Summer Dress: Picture easy, breezy. Summer dresses are fun to have because I consider this my “outside of the office” dress. I like to have a pretty tailored look and even found my summer dresses have structure to them. However, a maxi or boho styled dress would be perfect here.
Daytime Dress: This is more of your office casual dress. Could be a sweater dress, a sweatshirt dress or even a cotton dress
House Dress: Now, I hadn’t ever heard of a house dress until I worked in retail and a customer asked. I didn’t quite get it but thinking back, my grandmother always wore one and I thought it was “just” her pajamas. A house dress can be versatile and come in many forms. You can wear one running around the house, cooking, cleaning, just out of the shower, or even out of the house!
Wildcard Dress: I love a good wildcard dress. This is a dress you feel fantastic in! Maybe its your LBD, maybe it’s hot pink or has wild patterns, etc. Or something that is so bold that you are unsure about wearing but do anyway.
Jumpsuit: Insert perfect alternative to a dress. A jumpsuit can be worn to weddings, work, conferences, dates. Literally the options are endless. A jumpsuit can replace all of the dress categories listed above - as long as the jumpsuit fits within those categories.
Whether you work in an office, work from home, or not at all, you should have a good mixture of these pants listed below.
Trouser pants: These are a staple for any office environment. And typically very timeless. These are easy mix and match with blazers for professional workwear or interviews
Ankle pants: The ankle pant, not to be confused with a crop pant, is genius and here for the long haul. This pant almost is replaceable with the trouser. This style is easily dressed up or made casual and can also be worn with jackets for professional workwear.
Relaxed Pant: Whenever we start opening back up, a relaxed pant will continue to be a staple in your wardrobe. Ponte, ribbed, joggers or linen all fall into this style.
Seasonal Pants: This includes chinos, twill, white pants, linen, velvet or sequins. For obvious reasons, these pants help with the seasonal weather, or come into play for special occasions.
Wide-Widths Should have fun too!
Shoes: Dress Shoe / Comfy Flat / Fun Heel or Flat / Neutral Pump /
Athletic Shoe: Sneakers / Workout Shoe
Sandals: All Day Sandal / Wedge/ Dress
Boots: Booties / Knee High / Snow Boots / Rain Boots
Sweater Weather can actually be all year round! Below is a list of sweaters that I like to keep in my closet!
Light seasonal sweater: Love me a white sweater for the summer! Alright, this sweater doesn't have to be white, but a light sweater for spring days, cool summer nights and early fall is a wardrobe must. These sweaters can also double as sleeveless tops and tops that you can wear all year round.
Chunky Cold Weather sweater: This is a must have for when the temps get REAL cold - no matter where you live!
Sweatshirt/Hoodie: I feel like there has to be some sort of nostalgia in your wardrobe. A throwback of some sort that you just can't get rid of like your college sweatshirt or partners sweatshirt, but if you haven’t kept any of those, below are some great ones!
Basic Sweater: This is your every day sweater that can be kept year after year that typically won’t go out of style that quickly.
Fashion Sweaters: These sweaters are “trending” for a few years. You can wear these to the office, on a date, girls night out, holidays - you get the picture!
Turtleneck sweater: What’s the difference between you turtleneck sweater and your cozy cold weather sweater listed above? While turtlenecks are mostly cozy and thick, but there are also versions that are thin enough to wear with jackets and blazers!
Button Downs: Hold onto your seat, I'm about to blow your mind! I don't think its necessary to have a white button down in your closet if you won't wear it (especially if you’re a chronic spiller)! However, I do think a button down of some sort IS vital to a closet. There are a few to choose from: Flannel / White / Chambray
Tunics: Why are tunics essential to a wardrobe? Because they are just genius. It took me a while to find one that fit me just right but when I did, I wore it on a weekly rotation. A tunic can be your button down shirt too!
Go to t-shirt: This can be a vintage rock band shirt, just a plain white T, a black shirt, or even your favorite sports team but there is something so simple about a t-shirt that makes a look effortless.
Blouse: Need a quick date night or brunch looks when you're in between seasons. They are also essential as workwear, since the look is a little more "put together" when worn with trousers, ankle pants or even chinos.
Maybe you’ve mastered the athleisure look in 2020, maybe you haven’t 🤷♀️ If you’re still having a hard time with it, here’s the definition: “casual, comfortable clothing designed to be suitable both for exercise and everyday wear” which leaves a lot room for interpretation.
Joggers: since I'm petite, I have fallen in love with joggers. Depending on the material of the joggers, they can definitely be used for low-impact workouts. My favorites are listed below
Bottoms: Leggings, Capris and Shorts
Tops: Tanks, Short Sleeved & Long Sleeved
Jackets: The beauty of athleisure is that you can really put any layering piece over your core pieces and it works.
